Any donation will be very greatly appreciated and fundraising progress (amounts raised) will be posted each week on the Jock Palfreeman facebook page WhoIsJockPalfreeman?

Jock Palfreeman is a young Australian man who is serving a 20 year prison sentence in Sofia Central Prison, Bulgaria.

Many people believe that Jock has been improperly tried and wrongly convicted. This site is dedicated to raising awareness about Jock and also raising money to pay the damages (ransom) which have been imposed upon Jock. These costs currently stand at about US $600,000.
Jock has been described as an idealist with a strongly developed social conscience. Even while still at school he was a budding political activist, at one stage having campaigned against Australian involvement in the the Iraqi war. Adventurous and keen to see the world, by the age of 19 Jock was already overseas, visiting Bulgaria, which he really loved.
In late December 2007, 21 year old Jock was celebrating with friends in the city of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. After a few beers, he was walking home at about 1am when, according to Jock and other witnesses, he came across a large group of local men, all around his own age, physically attacking two Romas (gypsies). When Jock intervened, the gang turned their attention to him. When Jock emerged from the melee that followed, during which he was knocked to the ground and pelted with pieces of concrete, he found himself in the clutches of security guards and soon afterwards accused of cold-blooded murder.
Jock and his family have been working tirelessly for 5 years hoping for a fair hearing from the Bulgarian justice system. All efforts in this have so far failed. Now Jock is hoping to gain a transfer to Australia. Jock is expected to pay the Bulgarian Justice System about US$600,000 in "damages" before they'll even consider granting him either transfer or parole.
